lyrics

I’ve seen a face
I know it well
Yet not at all
Yet not at all
Staring back
Through the gloom
It was a face
The face of doom

Shuttered in
An attic room
His worldly goods
Scattered round
Memories boxed
With faded labels
Broken records
All possessions
Stolen, bought and found

This could be yours!
His cold voice cracked
As his words scattered
Across the attic
Leave your comfort
Travel far
Work your spirit
To the floor

Shuttered in
An attic room
His worldly goods
Scattered round
keyless organs
Broken dolls
And gilded trinkets
Happy moments
Stolen, bought and found

Face to face
With my own reflection
Eighty years
Etched on his face
Worked his body
Into dust

I saw a face
It was my own
The face of doom
The travel’s end
I fled the attic
Slammed the door
I left this world
And travelled home
